GEON
The NSF funded GEON project (www.geongrid.org) is a groundbreaking collaboration between Earth Science and Computer Science researchers to build a modern Cyberinfrastructure for the Earth Sciences. Our lab is entirely integrated with GEON. Growing numbers of geoscientists are recognizing the power of Geoinformatics for enabling the next generation of science. GEON is set up to take advantage of new technological advancements in information technology and it is designed to create a cyberinfrastructure to bring data sets, software, visualization applications, and a variety of other tools together from all Earth science disciplines to enable new interdisciplinary research and to stimulate new discoveries in the geosciences.
Our lab play the critical role in building the GEON portal. Lab personnel maintain the portal framework and develop resources (portlets) for the GEON portal. Through the GEON Portal research products and services arising from GEON are made available to the entire scientific community, transforming the way Geoscience research is conducted.
