GIS

One of the primary activities in the Geoinformatics Lab is the use of Geographic Inofrmation Systems to advance Earth science research and education.  We develop digital resources and use them in scientific research and educational activities. The lab currently holds a large GIS data library of geoscience data sets covering large portions of the world.  The labs activities are generally focused on the Middle East, North Africa, and the US, though a limited amount of data sets are also available for the central and eastern Asia.

The Labs GIS tools are primarily built on ESRI based software. We not only gather and organize geoscience data sets we also build resources to make these data sets available to the research and educational communities.  Two of the GIS-based mapping resources we built are available to the entire community.
